Since 1991, a stop at Sweet Memories Candy & Gift Shoppe has become part of the "up
north" traditions of many families.
As you browse through many rooms of candy and sweet treats, in a
welcoming relaxed atmosphere, you will take a walk down "Sweet
Memories Lane" when you see all of the nostalgic candies you knew as a kid. Our store features 1000's of
square feet of fun things to do and see.
Listen to a tune
on an old fashioned player piano that is a treat for your eyes as well as your ears.
Enjoy a cold coca cola dispensed from an original 1959 vintage
Coke machine.
Put yourself in a
souvenir picture to remind you of your visit to Sweet Memories Candy Shoppe. You can be the face of a
gingerbread boy or girl or stand next to the chainsaw sculptured farmer and his wife.
While searching for your favorite sweet treat, imagine
yourself riding a Ferris wheel like the moving replica you can find in the "Kid's Corner ".
Enjoy your
delicious gourmet ice cream snack as you stroll outside through our beautiful gardens or while relaxing
on our big black walnut tree's swing.
Treat your senses inside with the smell of homemade
chocolates, fudge, caramel corn, cheese corn, flavored candied corn and brittles.

Fun & Interesting Facts:
You will find Sweet Memories Candy & Gift Shoppe in the second oldest house in Lakewood.
Built around 1914, it was the home of the Oscar Issacson family. Oscar's second wife, Helen, raised step
children, a grandchild, and a niece in this home. Each of the current candy store rooms was at one time a
bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room. Those who came to Helen's house enjoyed sweet treats that
Helen made BUT Helen did not allow the children to have candy. So now Helen's house (she lived there until
she was 95) is a candy store! Frequently, strange things happen in the candy store: suckers fall on the
floor, card spinners turn and stairs creek when no one is in the room. We believe that Helen is often
reminding us that no candy was allowed in her house and then assure her that we're enjoying our stay in her
home.
